Massages are supposed to be relaxing, so why can it be so complicated to figure out the right one for you?
We understand, and we are here to help!
Massage can be beneficial for people of all walks of life, but not everyone will receive the same benefit from the same massages. For starters, it's best to remember that some conditions are contraindications to some or all of massage therapy techniques. Given that there are so many differences in one human body to the next, don't forget that what did or did not work for someone, may (or may not) work for you! This is everything in life, though, amirite?!
Here are some surprising known massage benefits:
Improved circulation
Massage moved the lymphatic fluid (which does NOT move on it's own!)
Better sleep
Better focus
Better energy
Improved mental health
Improved mood
Pain reduction
Inflammation reduction
and so much more!
Don't take our word for it! Here is an interesting study: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5564319/
But seriously though.. what are the differences in the types of massage? Let's start with that we offer here at Cloud9 Spa.
Swedish Massage is the massage of choice for those who prefer lighter pressure. This is great for someone who just wants to relax, and maybe not really get anything worked out specifically. This massage may innately work things out, but this is not the intention of a Swedish Massage.
Therapeutic Massage is a great massage, and what I call an "everything massage". Therapeutic Massages done at Cloud9 Spa utilize Swedish, Osteopathic, Neuromuscular, deep-tissue, trigger point and myofascial release massage techniques. This massage is great for someone who wants to both relax, and work out some areas of tense muscle that need a bit of extra attention.
Massages with mini facials include a pampering mini facial session, with a focus on massage. Our mini facials include clean ingredients designed to nourish your skin and hair.
Chair massage is great for folks with back, neck, and arm issues with little time on their side!
Reflexology, which is a targeted yet relaxing foot massage, can be incorporated on the feet portion of our massages.
There are so many more modalities and techniques for massage, including: hot stone, bamboo, deep-tissue, sports massage, medical massage, and more.
Please note that more massage modalities are to come in the future as our therapist(s) gain qualifications via license renewal/CEU courses. Stay tuned, and make sure to subscribe for updates!
